This competition will be running all summer with a closing date of 4th November
You will be able to enter up to 6 images, and you can change your submitted images at any time before the closing date of 25/11/21.
For this year only, due to the pandemic, the club rule stipulating that entries must be taken within the last 12 months is revoked. Therefore you might consider shots from your back catalogue for entry, providing these have not been entered into club competitions previously. We encourage you to enter as early as possible, but to continue to review and consider alternative submissions as the year moves on.
Architecture is a broad term and we would like to encourage you to think laterally about potential subjects. A ‘normal’ immediate explanation of Architecture might be, buildings of some description – modern, old etc. A search online defines many different Architectural categories such as, Buildings (Industrial / Residential / Commercial), Roads, Public Spaces, Defensive architecture, Conservation architecture/ Landscape architecture, to mention a few. How these subjects might be treated – shapes, patterns, silhouettes, leaves a considerable range for your artistic creativity.
The definition, according to the Dictionary of Architecture and Construction, is simply that “architecture refers to the art and science of designing and building structures, or large groups of structures, in keeping with aesthetic and functional criteria”.
According to the Collins English dictionary, Architecture is defined as “the structure or design of anything”. Structure is defined as “1. Something that has been built or organised; 2. To arrange something into an organised system or pattern”.
