Following our successful exhibition Selby Abbey and The Camera Craft Presentation by Robert Helliwell in the Library the club will be welcoming 15 new members.
The committee have therefore decided that to welcome the new members and to provide background to the running of the club. This will also provide a refresher for existing members. This will take place in the coffee area.
The programme for the night is proposed as follows:
After 4 aspects we will have a coffee break of 15 mins.
Each aspect will be presented seven times for 15mins minutes. At a signal from Chris, the aspects will close, the members present will move to another aspect. On a further signal from Chris the next presentation of each aspect will be be re-started. All at this meeting will be able to hear and participate in all aspects
After 4 aspects we will have a coffee break of 15 mins.
1) An example of a café forum presentation and an explanation of the ‘Buddy’ system. Maybe regular members could be asked to volunteer to stand by if needed. (Celia Barnes)
2) A table to talk and ask questions with notes taken for discussion at the next committee meeting. What are your personal needs/interests which my help with future committee planing; or reveal the need to publicise upcoming courses or try something new? (Mark Aldridge)
3) Illustration of the club’s emphasis on positive critiquing of images with demonstration, discussion and some real print images to use as examples. We all promised to bring two to three images (No more than that. BJ agreed to bring Mono.) Stephanie to be asked first, Kevin if she is not available, Robert as back-up.
4) Explanation of the new Snapchat page for the club. (Sue)
5) Introduction to the website and how to access and use it. Emails as a general form of communication will become less and less the mode of keeping in touch and so all members need to be confident in its use. (Leigh)
6) The club’s standards for mounting prints. The presentation and mounting of prints across the photographic world is the sole responsibility of the print owner. A few photographers pay for this to be done professionally, but most mount their own prints. A practical demonstration for a well-backed print. Important to say that the simpler surface mounting is recognised and use throughout the photographic club world. (Brian)
7) An explanation of competitions, how to enter and the arrangemnts about digitals and prints (John Gerhold).
