Throughout July, Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens are holding a photographic exhibition inside the tea room.
Three Yorkshire photographers – Christine Carr, Sarah Kellett and Georgina Brown, all members of Selby Camera Club made several trips to the gardens during April.
Each of us visited the gardens during the month of April 2018, where we braved outside in various weather conditions – rain, sun and wind.
We all came up with our own creative and imaginative approaches from our observations in the gardens, producing a very diverse and aesthetic collection of photographs for display.
Below is a brief description of our photographic approaches and techniques we use in the post processing stage.
Christine enjoys creating an artistic style, which are influenced by impressionist painters and reflecting its scene as a whole. Her love of gardens and nature provides a base to work from. She likes to experiment with different effects to achieve the images she sees in her mind’s eye, rather than to present an exact record of what is seen.
Sarah grew up with a love of plants and flowers thanks to the many happy days spent at her family’s nurseries in Cawood. She now grows a variety of flowers in her own garden to enable her to photograph them at their best. She is particularly attracted to the delicate pastel shades and strives to make her images reminiscent of a watercolour painting rather than a true photographic image.
Georgina particularly enjoys macro photography and likes to capture the minute and intricate details of plants and flora in its simplistic form. She is always seeking out fresh perspectives and new angles in her photography, drawn by vibrant and bold colours. Post processing is kept to a minimum in her images to retain the originality of the subjects captured.
All photographs are available to buy.
The exhibition is open from 1pm to 5pm throughout July.
Opening days: –
The exhibition is located in the tea room, where they offer delicious homemade cakes, refreshing tea or coffee and an assortment of snacks.

Working as a professional photographer and artist, I take responsibility for my own personal and professional development in photography through self-directed projects. I strive to create colourful, innovative and dynamic images that may not have been seen before. Constantly seeking new and refreshing ideas, I am forever inspired by stunning photographic images of Yorkshire and around the world.
